Spain demolished Ireland, Croatia secured a late draw

In last matches of group C, Croatia secured a late draw against Italy, who had had upper hand in most of the match. Spain showed their strength by demolishing Ireland 4-0.

Ireland is the first team to be out of the competition after the two comprehensive losses against Croatia and Spain. The last match against Italy will be a match for honor only.

On top of the table now are Spain and Croatia with 4 points. They will meet in the last game to decide the first place.

Italy has to blame themselves as they were leading 1-0 until 70 minutes. Their passive play after the opener by Pirlo had given Croatia more space to maneuver. Despite the tight defense of Italy, Croatia was able to grab a draw out of this tough match. Italy now cannot decide their faith in the last match, as there's possibility that Spain and Croatia will be going to next round together if they have a 2-2 draw or more.

Meanwhile, in the later game last night, Torres exploded and registered 2 goals as a response to many criticism after his poor performance in the 1st match. The other two goals came from David Silva's sleek finish and Fabregas after replacing Torres.
