2011 Mazda 2 review

2011 Mazda 2 review

2011 mazda 2 initial overview first time in north america we've been introduced to the mazda2 many times before as versions have been scooting around the globe since 2007 the u s finally sees what it gets from a small mazda at the

Powering this nimble Mazda is a 1.5-litre 100hp engine delivering 98 lb-ft of torque, slightly below its competition. Off the tarmac the suspension holds well and your bottom and back appreciating it unlike in the Ford Fiesta.

2011 Mazda Driving dynamics

Being a Mazda, the electronics are top notch and driver safety and ease is priority. As a city car meant for short trips, the "Mazda 2 handles like a charm (unless you're feeding a large family and need more than the normal amount of space after a trip to Woolies). The rest of the interior however reminded us of the well designed Mazda 3", with adequate head and legroom, and an intuitive dash layout.

Another disappointment was its fuel consumption figures. For a vehicle of such miniscule dimensions, we expected something better than 8-litres per 100 km city and 6.7-litres per 100km highway in our manual Mazda 2 test model. Overall the Mazda2 looks to be a hit.

Now you can add the 2011 Mazda 2 to that list of price-conscious hatchbacks. On the plus side, the Mazda 2 is quite sporty to drive, and indeed this is one area where Mazda is quite proud of its new entry-level car. The list of standard and available features for the Mazda is quite short, too.

Body Styles, Trim Levels, and Options
The 2011 Mazda 2 is a five-passenger, four-door subcompact hatchback that is available in two trim levels -- Sport and Touring. The Sport comes standard with 15-inch steel wheels with wheel covers, air-conditioning, full power accessories, a tilt steering wheel and a four-speaker CD/MP3 audio system with an auxiliary input jack

The 2011 Mazda 2 is powered by a 1.5-liter inline four-cylinder engine that produces 100 horsepower and 96 pound-feet of torque. The EPA estimates fuel economy at 28 mpg city/35 mpg highway for the manual transmission and 27/33 mpg for the automatic.

Safety
Standard safety features for the 2011 Mazda 2 include antilock brakes (discs in front/drums in rear), front-seat side airbags, side curtain airbags and stability and traction control.

The 2011 Mazda 2's interior is comparable to other hatchbacks in this economical price range. With those rear seats in place, cargo capacity is 13.3 cubic feet, which is small for a hatchback. For more Interior Features information, see our Specifications page
