Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Reviews

Porsche 911 Carrera GTS Review
With a power output of 408 hp, outstanding vehicle dynamics, and rear-wheel drive, the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS ascends to the top of the base Carrera models, squeezing in between the 911 Carrera S and 911 Turbo. A sports exhaust system completes the performance tuning with two dual tailpipes. The Carrera GTS comes standard with a six-speed manual transmission, and upon request, a seven-speed Porsche PDK transmission is available. What really sets the 911 Carrera GTS apart from the 911 Carrera S is its wide-body design. The Porsche 911 Carrera GTS back end is 1.7 inches wider than the base 911. For instance, the GTS runs on 19-inch center-mount RS Spyder wheels, painted in black, with high-gloss finish rim flanges, and 305/30ZR-19 tires on the rear axle. Other optical features include the SportDesign front apron with spoiler edge, painted in black, special sideskirts, also in black, and the Carrera GTS logotype on doors and rear lid, in black or silver depending on the body color. Black Alcantara dominates the interior

This time, the 385-horsepower 911 Carrera S has evolved into the 403-horsepower 911 Carrera GTS. Perfectly suited to slot into the gap between the 385-horsepower Carrera S and the 435-horsepower GT3, the GTS combines the 44-millimeter wider Carrera 4 body, wider rear track and wheels with rear-wheel drive. A new resonance intake manifold uses six vacuum-controlled tuning flaps to switch between power and torque-optimized geometry. This change increases torque in the mid-rev range. The sport exhaust system we've loved the sound of as an option on the Carrera S, comes standard on the GTS. Top track speed is 190 mph, yet the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS will offer fuel economy of up to 19 mpg city and 27 mpg highway.

With an output of 408 hp, the vehicle dynamics and an excellent specification that highlights the character's iconic sports coupe, climb the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS on top of the Carrera model series.

By default, the Porsche 911 Carrera GTS a six-speed manual and seven-speed dual clutch Porsche (PDK) is available. True to Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy, this adds sporty appeal goes hand in hand with rational: the new Porsche 911 Carrera GTS consumes more fuel than a Carrera S in the new European driving cycle (NEDC). A single family Porsche 911 Carrera GTS joins the body 44 millimeters wider wheel drive Carrera 4 models - also expanded its rear track - a classic rear-wheel drive configuration.

There are many details that emphasizes design and technology of the 911 Carrera GTS Carrera model from another. For example, the headquarters of Porsche 911 Carrera GTS, the 19-inch center-lock wheel RS Spyder, rims painted black with a high-gloss finish with tires 235/35 ZR 19 front axle and 305/30 ZR 19 tires at the rear.

2011 Porsche Panamera

The 2011 Porsche Panamera is no four-door coupe, like the Aston Martin Rapide or the Mercedes-Benz CLS, but a true "gran turismo," with tremendous power, great handling, and ample room for four real-world adults.

The "2011 Panamera" models for enthusiasts and true Porschephiles and track hounds remain the Panamera S, with its 400-horsepower, direct-injection 4.8-liter V-8 engine, making a peak 369 pound-feet, and the Panamera Turbo, which makes a stout 500 horsepower and 516 lb-ft.

Power in this front-engine car is sent to either the rear wheels or all four wheels through a seven-speed, dual clutch PDK automatic transmission that uses Porsche's push-pull shift levers. Open the Porsche Panamera up on a road course at 140 mph and you'll find the 911's flat-six ripple replaced with a more industrial-sounding whir that's still distinctly Porsche.

From the front seats forward it doesn't take much imagination to think that you're in an exceptionally plush Porsche 911.

The new, entry-level Porsche Panamera is essentially the same car as the S and it, too, is a joy to drive. The base Panamera starts at $75,375 with rear-wheel drive and $79,875 with all-wheel-drive. Standard equipment on the new entry-level model is the same as on the S and includes leather upholstery, eight-way power front seats with driver memory functions, hard-drive-based navigation and 11-speaker sound systems, a sunroof, a power rear hatchback, rear parking sensors, a tilting and telescoping steering wheel, and a cooled glove box.

When I outfitted an entry-level Panamera, I easily topped 90 grand and was just getting started (more on options later).
The key difference between the Panamera and the Panamera S is acceleration. Porsche says the base Panamera jumps from 0 to 60 in 6.0 seconds with rear-wheel drive—5.8 seconds with all-wheel drive. If 0.8 seconds is worth 15 grand to you, then, the Panamera S is your car.

2011 Panamera S rear wheel drive model is superb. From the Porsche Panamera and Panamera 4 with the 3.6 liter 300 horsepower six cylinder models to the more powerful eight cylinder models. The Panamera S, the Panamera 4 wheel drive known as the 4S, and the new Turbo Panamera 4 wheel model. The Turbo Panamera has 500 horsepower and only all wheel drive while the Panamera S and Panamera S4 offer 400 horsepower.

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S
The 911 Turbo S comes exclusively with seven-speed Porsche-Doppelkupplungsgetriebe (PDK) (Porsche’s Double-Clutch Gearbox) conveying drive power to Porsche Traction Management (PTM) all-wheel drive. The German market price of the Turbo S Coupé is Euro 173,241 including 19 per cent value-added tax and local equipment in the market (the Euro base price is Euro 145,400).

2011 Porsche 911 Turbo S Review; 3.8-litre, flat-six cylinder, twin turbocharged, seven-speed dual clutch transmission
There’s no doubting the 911’s ability to thrill, scare and reward in equal measure and the new generation Turbo S moves the game on once again.

In the UK, Porsche’s official acceleration figures have already been demolished on independent tests and it’s safe to say that the next generation Turbo models will push the performance envelope beyond what any of us thought possible.

Porsche has decided to endow the 911 Turbo S with such astonishing performance in order to take on the plethora of tuning companies that have been tweaking these cars for years, often with catastrophic results. Yet any time I’ve driven a 911 Turbo, the last thing on my mind has been that it needs more power. So I’m pointing the new S in the direction of the Scottish Highlands, where there are empty, fast roads, stunning scenery and traffic cops are thin on the ground.

There’s no manual gearbox available with the S because Porsche says nine out of 10 Turbos are specced with its seven-speed dual clutch PDK tranny. Reaching the motorway, I prepare myself for a first taste of Turbo S thrust. The Turbo, though, is quite possibly the world’s greatest GT car and is entirely different from the rest of the 911 range. It’s perfect for long journeys as it’s comfortable, quiet, immensely capable and safe. You see, the S – apart from being more powerful than the Turbo – has basically every conceivable Turbo extra thrown at it as standard. Extras fitted to this test car are the GT Silver paint, grey seat belts (!) an Aero Kit with its GT3-esque rear spoiler, and, laughably, given how expensive the car is, the rear wiper.

For the next 1000km the Turbo S doesn’t miss a beat. It sounded absolutely brilliant – this one sounded like a vacuum cleaner in comparison. Any car that can reach the speeds a Turbo S is capable of needs some serious stopping power and here, all-round carbon ceramic brakes (PCCB) are fitted as standard. Reaching my destination, it’s time to bed down for the night before an early morning return. Granted, a GT3 will give a more pure, traditional 911 experience, but if you want the very best GT car in the world today, look no further.

With 500 hp, the Porsche 911 Turbo is not exactly anemic. All the goodies we recommend you choose on the regular Turbo are standard here: the dynamic engine mounts, Porsche’s brake-based torque-vectoring system, ceramic brakes, and the Sport Chrono package, which also nets you launch control. The six-speed manual that’s standard on the Turbo is not available here.

The Turbo S’s 530 hp are available between 6250 and 6750 rpm. The added power is achieved through different intake-valve timing and increased turbo boost pressure. The Turbo S torque figure can be matched by the regular Turbo, but only when that car is equipped with the Sport Chrono package; it allows for a short overboost for up to 10 seconds, increasing boost from 11.6 psi to 14.5. We’ve already clocked a Turbo coupe sprinting to 60 mph in a downright blistering 2.9 seconds, so it seems Porsche is being its usual underestimating self. Top speed of the Turbo S increases from a claimed 194 mph to 195. The car gets slightly modified front-suspension geometry, giving it more precise steering feel and making the "Po rsche911 Turbo S" seem almost like a mid-engine car. Porsche says lap times on the Nürburgring have improved from 7:39 for the regular Turbo to 7:37. Although a mid-engine car is by design dynamically superior to a rear-engine car in most disciplines, the traction of the all-wheel-drive Turbo S, which stands on 235/35ZR-19 front and 305/30ZR-19 rear Bridgestone Potenzas, is simply unbelievable.

Porsche says 30 to 40 percent of Turbo customers upgrade their cars with the aggressive carbon-ceramic brakes. Sport Plus More Sport
As you start adding options to a regular Turbo, the Turbo S quickly starts making sense.

Porsche plans to exhibit its new variant, 911 Sport Classic limited edition is also known as the ‘sports-car candy’ exhibited Frankfurt Motor show.

This variant will represent the mixing of styles from the style that had made earlier with the addition of power far greater.

As reported by autoweek.com, Classic Sport 911 will only produce limited as many as 250 units. Unfortunately, this variant will not be brought to North America.

porsche-sport-classic-2
Classic Sport 911 will be exhibited at the Porsche booth accompanied by other variants such as the 911 Turbo, and variants of the GT3RS Cup Racer.

Displays a ‘retro’ will certainly attract attention when we first saw it, with a spoiler ‘duck tail’ is a nuance to the Carrera RS 2.7 in 1973.

Not to mention the combination of the rim with 19-inch five-spoke custom black centers, which will remind us of the Fuchs rims are in use by the 911S model in previous years.

Classic Sport 911 received auditional pumping 23 hp to the standard output power of 408 hp to reach the 3.8-liter engine performance flat-six with Direct Injection and transmission paired with six-speed manual.

Ceramic composite braking system Porsche standards, this variant had been carrying a sports suspension with mechanical systems locking rear axle differential.

The back of Classic Sport 911 was designed based on the Carrera S model but with a wider body of the Carrera 4S, by adding 1.73 inches at the rear making it look wider.

The roof itself, the new set-up with a double dome and the model looks very sporty front. Likewise with the interior which is faithful to the material with a textured leather sport seats are covered in an espresso color.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

Offering increased engine power, lower weight, shorter transmission ratios and a chassis optimised to an even higher standard, the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS sets the foundation for homologating the racing version of the 911 GT3.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The Porsche 911 GT3 RS thus provides the key ingredients for extending the unparalleled racing record of Porsche and continues the series of absolute, uncompromised, motor sport-oriented editions of the 911 that are homologated for road use and which can trace their roots back to the classic Carrera RS 2.7 of 1973.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The heart of the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS, the power unit, is based on the proven flat-six cylinder ‘boxer’ engine already featured in the 911 GT3. Like the latter, the RS power unit now displaces 3.8 instead of 3.6-litres, but in this new model is tuned to deliver even more power and rev even faster and more dynamically.

The engine in the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS delivers 15 hp more than its counterpart in the 911 GT3, providing a maximum output of 450 hp from the naturally-aspirated power unit. This is 35 hp more than the prior model Porsche 911 GT3 RS, and translates into a specific output of more than 118 hp per litre from the six-cylinder, an extremely high figure for a non-turbocharged engine. And unlike many other high-performance drivetrains, the power unit in the new Porsche 911 GT3 RS remains well suited to everyday use.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 RS

The new Porsche 911 GT3 RS comes exclusively with a six-speed manual gearbox – with a short-throw gear lever – which is also optimised for low weight and high efficiency. To enhance the level of performance throughout the entire range of engine and road speeds, the gears have a shorter transmission ratio than on the 911 GT3, deliberately making concessions in terms of even higher top speed.

2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

Stronger, wider, faster – the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car is the latest-edition of the world’s best-selling and most successful production-based race car of more than 1,400 units. It will be introduced at the Frankfurt Motor Show September 17-27, 2009, along side the previously-announced 2010 Porsche 911 Turbo and 911 GT3 RS.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

For the first time, the race car is based on the street-legal 2010 GT3 RS version. However, in keeping with tradition, it continues to be assembled on the same production line as all road-going Porsche 911 vehicles in Stuttgart-Zuffenhausen.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

Like the flat-six “Boxer” engine in the new GT3 RS, displacement is increased by 0.2 liters over the former model to 3.8 liters and produces 30 more horsepower – 450 hp with a maximum RPM of 8,500. Additionally, it comes with a standard, sequential six-speed manual gearbox and weighs 2,646 lbs (1,200 kg).

Also like the 911 GT3 RS, the Porsche 911 GT3 Cup car features the 1.73-inch wider body of the current 911 Carrera 4S, providing sufficient space for larger wheels. Wider front wheel arches allow for three-piece light-alloy rims measuring 9.5 J x 18 (previously 9 J x 18) utilizing 24/64-18 Michelin racing tires. The three-piece light-alloy wheels on the rear axle are up by one inch in width, now measuring 12 J x 18 with 27/68-18 tires.

The Porsche 911 GT3 Cup is clearly recognizable at first sight through the special design of the front end. The striking daytime driving lights come straight from the current generation 911. Another carryover from the road-going 911 GT3 RS are the front body panels – as they prove aerodynamically-efficient for racing duty. The front spoiler lip is more than 0.5-inches lower to provide significantly more downforce on the front axle.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

Downforce on the rear axle is also increased by the by virtue of a rear wing that is over 9-inches wider than the street version, 66.9 inches vs. 57.5 inches respectively. The rear air dam, with its air vent openings as well as the rear LED lights, also come straight from the road model.

Additional Unibal joints are featured on the track control arms and the front and rear anti-roll bars are now adjustable to seven different positions, allowing for an even more precise set-up of the car to best match each prospective race track.

 2010 Porsche 911 GT3 Cup Car

The cockpit of the new Porsche 911 GT3 Cup caters even more to the specific needs of the driver. An additional vent in the upper part of the front lid, for example, provides the driver with a better supply of fresh air. The controls for the Info Display are now positioned directly on the steering wheel housing. And in addition to fore-and-aft adjustment, the steering wheel may now also be adjusted for height as on the regular production car.

Since the current era of sports car racing in the U.S started in 1999, Porsche 911 race cars have over 130 class victories, more than any other manufacturer. In addition, Porsche has won seven of ten GT2 manufacturers’ championships and eight of ten drivers’ championships in the American Le Mans Series. In addition, 911 race cars have won seven of nine GT championships in the Grand-Am Road Racing series, including an overall victory at the Rolex 24 at Daytona.
