2011 BMW 550i xDrive GT-BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and High Precision Injection
2011 BMW 550i xDrive GT reviews
The BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo is powered by a V8 featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and High Precision Injection. Displacing 3.0 litres, this outstanding six-cylinder delivers maximum output of 225 kW/306 hp at 5,800 rpm.
This person (who had probably seen a Mercedes R-Class in a parking lot or used to work at Honda and got fired for designing the Crosstour) imagined a time and place where a vehicle with limited versatility, little appeal aesthetically and emotionally would become a highly sought-after commodity. Fact is, BMW sold a trifling 223 (included in the 2,382 5-Series sold in 2010) in Canada during its first full year of availability. In January of 2011, BMW delivered 262 X5s. As a side note, BMW wanted me to specify that only rear-drive versions were available until October. The styling could be the conversation starter if the matter persists.
BMW has unveiled the BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo in China at the Beijing Auto Show. This is the first BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo to be equipped with the xDrive all-wheel-drive technology.
Now the driving experience offered by this one-of-a-kind vehicle is being further enriched by additional highlights: For the first time the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo is available with BMW xDrive all-wheel-drive technology, the BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo providing permanent, electronically masterminded all-wheel drive with exactly the right distribution of drive power between the front and rear wheels under all driving conditions.
The BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo is powered by a V8 featuring BMW TwinPower Turbo technology and High Precision Injection. The BMW 550i xDrive Gran Turismo is furthermore the first model to combine BMW’s intelligent all-wheel drive with an outstandingly dynamic, smooth, comfortable and highly efficient eight-speed automatic transmission.
Starting last year, BMW xDrive has also been available in the BMW 7 Series.
Under normal driving conditions BMW xDrive spreads out drive power at a 40 : 60 ratio front-to-rear. Now available with intelligent xDrive all-wheel-drive technology, the BMW 5 Series Gran Turismo offers an even more fascinating driving experience of sportiness and comfort combined in one.
